Girls Inc. Dallas Announces New Chief Executive Officer

DALLAS, Texas - February 28, 2017 – Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, a 49 year-old nonprofit offering afterschool and summer programs to girls, ages six to 18, from underserved parts of Dallas has announced the selection of Beth Myers, MSW as its new CEO. Myers will fill the vacancy created by Lori Palmer’s retirement in September 2016. The selection was made after a regional search and selection process, during which Myers served as Vice President of Consulting and Education for the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Melanie Okon, Girls Inc. Dallas Board Chair. “Beth will bring leadership and creativity to the Girls Inc. programs and a sense of commitment to the vision of a world where every girl has opportunities to break past serious obstacles and lead a healthy, educated and successful life.”

Myers resume includes a wide range of leadership expertise in the nonprofit sector. Previous to her role at CNM, she held several roles with Big Brothers Big Sisters at both the national and affiliate level. Most recently, she was the Senior Vice President of Network Impact for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America where she was responsible for overseeing organizational support, compliance, child safety, education and training for a network of 334 independent affiliates. Myers also was the President and CEO of their South Texas entity, where she grew the affiliate to one of the largest in the nation.

“I am dedicated to the critical role that Girls Inc. plays in lives of thousands of girls through its mentors, volunteers, corporate partners and dedicated donors who have helped Girls Inc. thrive for nearly 50 years,” remarks Myers. When asked about her role in moving the agency forward, she says she looks forward to, “building consensus, teamwork and support at the local and national level, and effectively managing fiscal and operational aspects of Girls Inc. as we go into our 50th anniversary year and beyond.”
