Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope this finds you, your families and friends safe and healthy during this uncertain time. At Girls Inc., we know that everyone is affected in some way by the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact on Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas also has been substantial. Our urgent concern is the impact on the girls and families we serve. Now, more than ever, we need to support our families as they struggle to find educational and emotional resources for their girls.

Girls Inc. has a BOLD response and we need your help. During the past few weeks, we have transformed our traditional in-person programming to an innovative virtual model. In fact, we were one of the first youth development and after-school providers to create and design a new service delivery model during the current crisis. As leaders in this space, we want to make sure all girls – especially those in low-income households – have access to essential programming and we will partner with schools and other local non-profits to ensure we are meeting this significant need.

Critical to our virtual model is a level of engagement with the girls, not just passive learning, because our girls are living in environments with a high level of toxic stress. Our team has spent countless hours researching the best online platforms and collaborating with our school partners to ensure our girls are successfully engaging in virtual lessons. We are creating a library of Strong, Smart and Bold content and working hard to reach as many girls as possible.

We need your help supporting our innovative new business model for our girls as they face increasing challenges due to the heightened stress in their homes as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Unemployment, food insecurity and anxiety about the future are all too real for our girls and their families during this pandemic. I encourage you to view this brief video to see how we have started to transform our programming and teach our girls how to use the tools. To donate, click here.

Now is the time to be BOLD and we cannot do it without you. Will you join us?

Gratefully,

Beth Myers, MSW
