Based on the emergency order issued on March 12th by Dallas County officials prohibiting large gatherings due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas has canceled all programming effective immediately and through March 20th. This includes all after-school programs and the Spring Break STEM camp scheduled for March 16 – 20.

While this move is disappointing, our number-one concern is the health and safety of our students, their families and our team members. This decision was very difficult and made following careful assessment of the increasing number of advisories and input from local and state health officials.

We understand the strain this may put on the families we serve. We are working to provide them with additional information about resources to help them during these unusual and difficult times. In addition, our administrative offices remain open to staff who are available to handle calls from parents, partners, donors and volunteers.

Thankfully, there are no known cases of coronavirus infection in our Girls Inc. community. We are continuing to follow all CDC and Texas Department of Health safety and health protocols.

These are unprecedented and challenging times.  We are taking this pandemic very seriously and doing our part to be responsible and attempt to mitigate the negative impact.
