In the early school years, girls begin to develop confidence as learners, and build the foundation for academic success. They also form attitudes about themselves in relation to school and their peers, family, and social groups that can last throughout their lives.

Girls Inc. supports elementary girls’ success by helping them master foundational academic skills, practice healthy behaviors, and build positive relationships with peers and adults.

Our elementary programs address a variety of topics, including:

Mentoring Program, Girls 9 – 14

Girls 9-14 enrolled in afterschool programs can participate in our Bold Futures Mentoring Program. This weekly group mentoring program equips girls with the guidance, support and skills to be engaged in school, build healthy relationships with peers and family, and reduce negative and high-risk behaviors.

  •      Ages 9-14
  •      Small group mentoring – one mentor to a group of 4-5 girls
  •      NO COST

Mentors include women who are community leaders and business professionals throughout the community. Benefits of the program will help girls to: improve behavior and interpersonal skills, build stronger relationships with adults and peers, enhance self-esteem, confidence, and coping skills, and increase their performance in school. Girls will also receive the Project BOLD curriculum to give them resource awareness and the skills needed to avoid and positively handle situations of violence.

For more information about participating in this program, talk directly to your campus program staff or contact Sherri Cook at scook@girlsincdallas.org.
