Empowering Future Leaders: Girls Inc. and Powerade Inspire Local High School Students with Special Guest, Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall
On December 4, 2024, more than 170 young women from five high schools experienced a transformative day of inspiration and professional development through a groundbreaking partnership between Girls Inc. and Powerade.
The event, held at Mesquite ISD’s Vanguard High School, brought together top executives and an two Olympic champions to motivate and guide the next generation of female leaders and athletes.
Leadership and Inspiration Take Center Stage
Dr. Stephanie J. Hull, National President and CEO of Girls Inc., and Beth Myers, CEO of Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, opened the event with powerful remarks that set the tone for a day focused on empowerment and possibility.
A dynamic career panel featuring industry leaders provided unique insights into professional success. Participants heard from:
- Leah Macko, Senior Brand Director for Powerade
- Shevon Gibbons, Regional Integrated Marketing Director for Powerade and Bodyarmor
- Tom Gargiulo, Chief Marketing Officer of Bodyarmor Sports Nutrition
Olympic Champion Delivers Powerful Message
The highlight of the day was an intimate Q&A session with Olympic Gold Medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall, who shared candid insights about her life, career, and personal challenges. Her most memorable message to the young women: “It’s ok not to fit the mold; it’s cool to be different.”
Tara Davis-Woodhall energized the audience with her iconic clap warm-up routine and cheered on Mesquite ISD’s female track athletes during an exciting box jump competition. Her husband, Paralympic Gold Medalist Hunter Woodhall, was also present, supporting her and the event’s participants.
As a special highlight, the couple brought their Paris 2024 Olympic Gold Medals, allowing the students to see tangible proof of what dedication and believing in oneself can achieve.
