Four years ago, Karrington Price walked through the doors of Girls Inc., seeking more than just a program. She sought empowerment, guidance, and a community that would uplift her dreams and nurture her potential. Little did she know at the time that her future path would be full of challenges but also profound moments of growth and empowerment.

At the age of 12, she suffered the loss of her mother, a woman whose memory remains a guiding light in Karrington’s journey. Through the grief and uncertainty, Karrington found solace and strength in the kindness of nurses, who became her heroes and beacons of hope during those challenging times.

As she navigated the complexities of adolescence without her mother’s guidance, she also grappled with the financial strain that often accompanies such circumstances. Despite the obstacles stacked against her, Karrington’s determination never wavered.

In her own words, Karrington reflects on her transformative journey with Girls Inc., saying, “By being a member of Girls Inc., I have been given the chance to learn about things I never would’ve been able to learn at school.”

Through Girls Inc. programming, she delved into discussions about social justice, diversity, and her own body, gaining insights that would shape her worldview and empower her to advocate for herself and others. She discovered a passion for science and exploration that ignited her dreams of becoming a nurse. She aims to amplify the voices of marginalized women in medical settings, ensuring that no one’s pain goes unheard.
