We’re excited to share that Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from The Starbucks Foundation to support our intensive STEM program, Eureka!.

Eureka! gives middle and high school girls from low-income homes and minority backgrounds the chance to reach their full potential and improve their economic mobility through STEM skills building and career exploration opportunities. The cohort-style program gives girls unique programming each year starting in middle school and follows them through high school – giving girls internship and mentor opportunities with local corporations, and advanced educational programming at colleges and universities.

“We are grateful for the support of The Starbucks Foundation in equipping our city’s girls with the resolve they need to change their lives,” said Beth Myers, CEO of Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas. “Through Eureka! we show girls what is possible in STEM careers and education and we are looking forward to expanding our cohort with this grant.”

Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas was one of four Texas-based non-profits to receive a 2018 “Opportunity for All” grant from The Starbucks Foundation.

This year, the foundation made $1.3 million in “Opportunity for All” grants to 47 programs and organizations ranging from $5,000 to $60,000. Since 2016, the grants have supported organizations working to create and advance economic opportunities for youth, veterans and military families, and refugees.
