Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas Welcomes New Board Member and Executive Officers for FY24

New leadership is poised to guide the organization to achieve ambitious growth goals

DALLAS, Texas, July 31, 2023 — Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas is pleased to welcome a new member of the Board of Directors and announce the Executive Officers for the fiscal year 2024. The board and newly elected officers will help the organization reach the ambitious goal of expanding Girls Inc. services to 25,000 Dallas County Girls by the end of this decade.

Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas’ mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The organization serves girls in Dallas County between the ages of 6 and 18, from mostly low-income households who reflect the diversity of the Dallas community. Girls receive research-based programming from trained and dedicated staff with the overall objectives of improving girls’ economic mobility, preventing teen pregnancy, and changing the face of STEM fields.

At its June meeting, the Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas Board of Directors approved the addition of Kmeal Winters and inducted Stephanie Zapata Moore as the chair with Arjun Dugal serving as the immediate past chair. The board also elected Joni Arison to serve as Treasurer and John Lawrence to serve as the Corporate Secretary.

Girls Inc. CEO, Beth Myers said, “I am excited to welcome Kmeal to the board and look forward to working with our officers in these new roles. I have no doubt that the diverse expertise and fresh perspectives of the board leadership will drive Girls Inc. to even greater success.”

Chair, Stephanie Zapata Moore: Stephanie is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer for Vistra Energy. She is a graduate of Duke University and holds her Juris Doctor degree from the William and Mary School of Law.

Arjun Gugal

Immediate Past Chair, Arjun Dugal: Arjun is the CTO of Financial Services at Capital One. He grew up in India and completed an undergraduate degree in electronics engineering there at Pune University. He holds a master’s degree in management and operations from Harvard University.

Treasurer, Joni Arison: Joni is the former SVP of Finance Services for AT&T. She is an experienced executive advisor with expertise in Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. She has an MBA from the University of New Haven and serves on the advisory board for the SMU Cox School of Business ITOM Program.

Corporate Secretary, John Lawrence: John is a partner with Baker Botts. He is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on the areas of securities and shareholder fiduciary duty, professional liability, and trade secrets. He holds a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. from Georgetown.

New Member, Kmeal Winters: Kmeal is the Vice President of Asset Management for STAG Industrial, Inc. and oversees a 12M SF industrial portfolio covering the Southwest/California region. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas and holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
